Somarkheda village is situated 36 Km away from Melghat, Amaravati District of Maharastra which is 1057 km northeast from Mumbai. There are 195 households with the population of 1311 belonging to Korku, Gawlien and Balai tribe. Their main source of livelihood is agriculture. Majority of the population lives below poverty line and are unable to afford the study expenses, moreover to pursue education the children have to travel to far away towns. The living conditions are unhygienic, and lack even the basic health care facilities. The village is completely cut off form the outside world due to poor infrastructure
