When you send money from your bank account in the United States via an Online ACH, we receive the money in 3 working days from your bank. No extra cost is passed on to you. ACH stands for Automated Clearing House. In the United States, the ACH Network is a highly reliable and efficient nationwide electronic funds transfer system governed by the (NACHA) National Automated Clearing House Association's operating rules, which authorize inter-bank clearing of electronic payments.

Using Online ACH on IndRemit (US Customers only)

How do you make an Online ACH from the United States?
To use IndRemit Online ACH mode, you need to follow the following steps:
  • As a First-time user, you need to complete a one-time Registration process where you are required to add your bank account details
  • Your details are verified through a one-time verification process, which takes 3 working days. IndRemit notifies you by email once your account is activated. The same notification is also available on the website, should you want to check the status of your verification online.
  • In order to process your transaction faster, it is advisable to book your remittance by 3:30 p.m. EST.

What details have to be provided for the one-time Registration process?
For the one-time registration, you need to provide us with the following details:
  • Your Social Security Number
  • Your US Bank Account number
  • Your Account Type
  • Your US Bank's 9 digit ABA Routing Number

What are the Account Validation and Activation Process?
The Account Validation Process is carried out to prevent any misuse of your account and ensure that only you as the real account holder use this facility.
  • A nominal amount in cents is debited and credited to your account by -IndRemit
  • IndRemit intimates you of the transaction by email
  • You must refer to your Bank Statement for the exact amount that is debited and credited.
  • When you log on to IndRemit, your transaction status will show, "Click to Verify". Now enter the exact amount in the space provided.
  • If the details match the actual transactions carried out by us, your account is activated and you can begin making transactions.

What type of US bank accounts can be used for Online ACH?
An individual Checking Account or an individual Savings Account with a US Bank that is affiliated to the ACH network can be used for Online ACH.

What is an ABA/ Routing Number?
The ABA or American Bankers' Association Number or Routing number is also called a "Routing Transit" number. It is an identification number assigned to each financial institution and each branch office of that financial institution. It was developed by the American Bankers' Association in 1910 to help route payments across banks. Perhaps the most important thing to keep in mind is that without the ABA/Routing number, transmitting funds is not possible.

When is money transferred from you bank account?
Generally, money is transferred from your bank account to IndRemit on the 2nd or 3rd working day from the date of making the money transfer request. You have to also ensure that your account has sufficient funds for the transfer to take place. All holidays - weekends, public holidays in India and the US have to be excluded while calculating working days.

What is the exchange rate applied on your remittance?
The exchange rate applicable to your remittance is based on the rate, prevailing at 10 AM IST, on the day that your funds are converted to Indian Rupees. On the day that you book your remittance, the prevailing rate for that particular day is shown to you on the online calculator as an indication - so that you know how much your beneficiary in India can expect to receive in Indian rupees for the amount that you are sending in your local currency. Troubleshooting

Your bank account has been posted with the Account Validation entries. However, you cannot enter the same on the website. What should you do?
Account Validation entries are posted to your bank account on the 2nd or 3rd working day after you complete the one-time registration for Online ACH. We send you an e-mail on the 3rd working day informing you about the details of the Account Validation process, subsequent to which you can enter the amount on the website. We request you to please wait for the e-mail and carefully go through it and only then make the entries on the website.

Why do you see 'Money in Clearing' in your Status Tracker when your account has already been debited?
Though it is an Online money transfer transaction, we do not receive the credit immediately and hence the status may read 'Funds in Clearing'. This status changes as soon as we receive the money. However, you need not worry, as there would be no delay in sending your remittance to the recipient in India.
