1. What is this service?
Muncha Money Transfer is pleased to offer you access to a quick, secure and cost-effective way of sending money to anyone in Nepal. The entire transaction is completed online and with just a few clicks, your money is on its way to the recipient of your choice. There is no need to visit a bank to use this service. Muncha Money Transfer is being operated by Muncha.com. Muncha.com is an ecommerce wing of Muncha House, which has a long history in Nepal as they have been operating in the retail sector of Nepal for over 70 years. The service is also being routed through the white label program of Times of Money Ltd., an experienced money transfer service provider based in India.
 
2.How does the service work?
Sending money to Nepal through Muncha Money Transfer is easy:
  • Simply login to the money transfer site, www.money.muncha.com. If you are not registered, you need to register first.
  • After logging in, click on ‘Send money’ link. If you are using our services for the 1st time, you need to add your recipient’s details along with details on how to deliver to him.
    • In the page that comes up, you need to enter the following:
    • For the time being, we offer Sending Options of Internet Check/ACH (Guaranteed Rate Transfer) only.
    • Enter an amount to be sent in the currency of your country.
    • Select the recipient from the drop down list to whom you are sending the money. You can add “new recipient” from here if he is not in the drop down list. All the people you have sent money to in the past will appear in the drop down list. Hence, you will not have to enter their details again.
    • Click “Continue” to add your “Bank Account”. If you have already added, then select it from the drop down list
    • Select the purpose and then add your message (if any) to the recipient to be sent along with the money
  • To confirm, click “Remit Now”.
  • You will receive an e-mail shortly confirming details of your transaction and a tracking number you can use to check the status of your transaction online.
  • Within as little as 48 hours of receiving your payment, your recipient will be informed regarding the transfer of funds.
  • Remember the best time to complete your transaction is before 4 PM (EST) (For US based transactions) for Internet Checks on any business day.
 
3.What are the fees for this service?
A nominal fee is charged for providing this service. Many comparable services charge you higher fees and could take much longer to deliver the money. But with us, it is quick service in affordable price. You can see our current rates by following the “Fees” link in the home page.
 
4.What forms of payment do you accept?
For the time being, the following forms of payment are accepted:
  • ACH or internet check. In this method, funds withdrawn directly from your bank account with the details you provide us regarding your bank account.
    Note: The best time to complete your transaction is before 4 PM (EST) for Internet Checks on any business day.
    This is one of a few fully-online, secure services that allow you to send money using funds withdrawn directly from your bank account.
 
5.Is there a limit to how much I can send in a single transaction?
As part of our ongoing verification process and in order to ensure maximum security for your account, we have restricted the total amount of money you can transfer over any given period. Generally, you are restricted to the following limits:
  • Maximum $10,000 in a single transaction. We are constantly reviewing the limits we have established in order to provide our customers with the greatest flexibility and protection
 
6.Will my personal information be protected?
Definitely! The site uses 128-bit SSL encryption to protect all personal identification information that you submit, including your name, address, e-mail address, login ID, password and bank account details.
 
7.Is my money safe?
Absolutely! Our software uses the latest 128-bit SSL encryption, so no unauthorized person can ever see details of your transaction. In addition, you have the security of knowing that your funds are handled by an FDIC-insured bank in the United States and in Nepal, it is routed through Bank of Kathmandu, one of the reputable banking institutions in Nepal.
 
8.How soon will my money get to the recipient?
Your recipient will receive funds after 2 business days provided transactions are completed before 4:00 pm EST for US based transactions. Only for first transactions we disburse funds after 4 business days. However, your recipient will be contacted within 2 business days after you complete the transaction.
 
9.What is the best time to execute a transaction?
The best time to execute a transaction is before 4 PM (EST) for Internet Checks on any business day. This will expedite the money transfer to Nepal by a day.
 
10.What are your delivery options and how much does it cost?
We have three delivery options. They are:
  • Account Credit - In this, client will select the bank and branch from our site and give us the account number and account title of the accountholder. Using this, we will deposit funds into the account. We currently can deposit in all the commercial and development banks and their branches all over Nepal. This delivery method is also FREE.
  • Cash Pickup - Pickups can currently be done in 90 different cities. Basically, recipients will go to the said location with the Remittance Reference Number or RTRN number and a government issued photo identification. This delivery method is FREE.
  • Cash Delivery - With this, funds will be delivered to the home physically. We currently offer this service within Kathmandu Valley only which consists of four cities i.e. Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and Kirtipur. This method incurs a nominal charge of US $5.

* For the time being, only “Account Credit” has been incorporated in “Delivery Options” but we will soon add Cash Delivery and Cash Pickup option.
 
11.How do I know the status of my transaction?
Online tracking is available for you to follow the progress of your money. This gives you the confidence that 24 hours a day, 7 days a week you can know exactly where your money is. You simply have to log in to your account and click on ‘TRACK MY TRANSACTION’. Then, in the next page, you need to click on the transaction number which you want to check the status of.
 
12.How secure is my registration?
We realize the need to keep your funds secure. That is why all remitters signing up with Muncha Money Transfer Services have to go through a Sub-Dollar Verification process. This security measures have been put into place to give you, our users, a heightened sense of security throughout the entire remittance process.
Sub-Dollar Verification Sub-Dollar Verification (SDV) is a process in which 2 sub dollar amounts are credited to your bank account.
Before the SDV process can take place, you need to set up a payment method to be used for your Muncha Money Transfer Services remittances. This can be done by entering your personal bank account number and your banks’ routing number. Once this information has been added, you will receive an email containing instructions regarding the SDV process. This new account will remain in a UNDER VERIFICATION state until the amounts credited to your accounts are verified correctly by you. Meanwhile, you may remain logged into Muncha Money Transfer Services, and initiate a transaction. Once the verification is completed, your funds will be disbursed to your recipient.
